વાદળોની ગમ્મત : The Fun of the Clouds

• એક વાર્તા… બે ભાષામાં!

ચોમાસાની તુનું આગમન થઈ ચૂક્યું હતું. આકાશ કાળા ડિબાંગ વાદળોથી ઘેરાઈ ગયું હતું. એક પાણી ભરેલું કાળું વાદળ બોલ્યું, 'આજે તો મારે પાણીથી ધરતીને ભીંજવી દેવી છે.'
તેની વાત સાંભળીને બીજું વાદળ બોલ્યું, 'જોજે હોં, સમય જોઈને વરસજે! અત્યારે બાળકોને શાળાએ જવાનો સમય છે, અત્યારે વરસીશ તો તે પલળી જશે.'
આ સાંભળી કાળું વાદળ બોલ્યું, 'ઊંહુ, હું તો મને મન પડે ત્યારે જ વરસીશ. આમ પણ બાળકોને વરસાદમાં ન્હાવાની મજા જ આવે!'
કાળા વાદળની વાત સાંભળી બીજું વાદળ ચૂપ થઈ ગયું.
કાળું વાદળ તો ધરતી પર પાણી વરસાવા લાગ્યું. પાણી પડવાથી નાના બાળકો ઘરમાંથી બહાર દોડી આવ્યાં. તે જોઈને કાળા વાદળને મજા આવી. ધરતી પરથી ભીની માટીની મીઠી સુગંધ આવી રહી હતી. નીચેનું દશ્ય જોઈને હવે તો બીજાં વાદળને પણ વરસવાનું મન થઈ આવ્યું!
કાળું વાદળ બોલ્યું, 'જો, બાળકો કેટલાં ખુશ છે! જો સાંભળ તેઓ ગીત ગાઈ રહ્યાં છે.'
બીજું વાદળ ધ્યાનથી સાંભળવા લાગ્યું.
બાળકો ગાઈ રહ્યાં હતાં-
'વીજળી ચમકે,
વાદળ વરસે,
ધરતી હરખે!!'
હવે તો બીજા વાદળથી પણ ન રહેવાયું. તે પણ મન મૂકીને વરસવા લાગ્યું. હવે તો નીચે બધે પાણી-પાણી થઈ ગયું.
બંને વાદળો ગમ્મત કરતાં-કરતાં આનંદથી ગાવા લાગ્યાં-
'વીજળી ચમકે,
વાદળ વરસે,
ધરતી હરખે!!'

T he arrival of the monsoon season had already taken place.
The sky was surrounded by dense, dark clouds.
A dark cloud filled with water spoke, "Today, I want to drench the earth with water."
Hearing its words, another cloud said, "Be careful, watch the time before you rain! Right now, it is time for the children to go to school; if you rain now, they will get soaked."
Hearing this, the dark cloud said, "Uh-huh, I will rain only when I feel like it. And anyway, children love bathing in the rain!"
Hearing the dark cloud's words, the other cloud fell silent.
The dark cloud started raining water onto the earth.
Seeing the water falling, little children came running out of their houses.
Seeing this, the dark cloud felt happy.
A sweet fragrance of wet soil was coming from the earth.
Seeing the scene below, now the other cloud also felt like raining!
The dark cloud spoke, "Look, how happy the children are; listen, they are singing a song."
The other cloud started listening carefully.
The children were singing,
'Lightning flashes,
The cloud rains,
The earth rejoices!!'
Now, the other cloud could not hold back either.
It also began to rain with all its heart.
Now, there was water everywhere below.
Having their fun, both clouds started singing joyfully:
'Lightning flashes,
The cloud rains,
The earth rejoices!!'
