How Was This Movie Made?

The Breadwinner was directed by Irish filmmaker and animator Nora Twomey, one of the founders of the animation studio Cartoon Saloon. The movie was produced through a collaboration between studios in Canada, Ireland, and Luxembourg. It was also executive-produced by Angelina Jolie. 

Twomey was deeply moved by Deborah Ellis's novel. She once said:
