Artificial intelligence (AI) has slowly marked its presence in the tech world. Alongside its rise, the potential threats AI possesses are also surfacing. To discuss this issue on a global scale, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has scheduled a meeting today.

Influence of AI on the globe to be discussed

The foreign secretary of the United Kingdom (UK), James Cleverly, will be chairing this discussion today, where the influence of AI on global peace and security will be the primary issue.

As AI possesses the capability of reshaping the global economy, governments around the world are keen to understand the threats it can pose. The International Security Council as a whole can be replaced by this technology.

In June this year, the secretary general of the United Nations, António Guterres, approved the proposal to create an agency that works as a regulatory body to monitor AI. The UN is considering setting up a new agency to deal with the challenges new technology poses.

Repercussions and Impacts of AI

At present, AI experimentation in Hollywood has led to a rift between the Writers' Association and the production houses. The Indian film industry has also started to work on many projects with the help of AI, but the writers of India are in two minds about its opposition. Extensive research is being carried out at many universities in India in the field of this technology.
