The Last Mughal Palace in Delhi: Zafar Mahal

The Zafar Mahal in Mehrauli, Delhi, is considered the last major historical palace built during the Mughal era. Although it is currently in ruins, this 18th-century structure was restored in the 19th century by the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar.

Key Features:

• Structure: Located near Ajmeri Gate, it was originally a three-story marble palace, 15 meters wide.

• Entrance: The entrance features three gates and used to have full-sized elephant sculptures.

• Architecture: It shows a mix of Mughal and British architectural styles. The Moti Masjid is located right next to it.

• Tradition: Every year, the festival of Phool Walon Ki Sair is celebrated here.

Even though it is in a ruined state today, it is a protected monument. While it can be difficult to find within the narrow lanes of the village, it remains a must-visit spot for tourists in Delhi, along with the nearby Tomb of Adham Khan.
