- Every Kid Should Read

A nne of Green Gables tells the story of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan with bright red hair, a sharp mind, and a vivid imagination. She is mistakenly sent to live with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, an elderly brother and sister who wanted a boy to help on their farm, Green Gables, in the beautiful village of Avonlea.

At first, Marilla is unsure about keeping Anne because the girl talks nonstop, asks strange-but interesting-questions, and often gets lost in daydreams. But Anne's warmth, honesty, and spark slowly win everyone over.

Anne goes through many adventures:

accidentally dyeing her hair green,

falling off a roof during a "dare,"

smashing a slate on Gilbert Blythe's head because he called her "Carrots,"

and discovering the beauty of friendships, forgiveness, and growing up.

The book follows Anne from childhood into her teenage years, showing how she learns to control her temper, accept herself, and dream big without losing her bright spirit.

Why This Book Is Important

This book has remained popular for more than a century because it celebrates the magic of imagination and the strength of kindness. Anne is not a "perfect" girl-she makes mistakes, gets emotional, and sometimes speaks before thinking. But that is what makes her relatable and lovable.

The book is important because:

 - It shows how love and acceptance can transform a life.

 - It highlights the power of education, curiosity, and creativity.

 - It teaches that girls can dream boldly and shape their own futures.

 - It encourages readers to appreciate nature, friendship, and small joys.

- Most importantly, it introduces one of literature's strongest young heroines-someone who grows not by losing her uniqueness but by embracing it.
