Ahmedabad is set to host the historic cricket clash for the ages. After beating South Africa comprehensively in the semi-finals, Australia is set to face India in the finals scheduled for Nov 19 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

On Nov 16, the Indian cricket team arrived at a hotel in Ahmedabad ahead of the ICC World Cup final match.

What to look up to in the final showdown?

The grand opening

The Indian Air Force (IAF) Suryakiran aerobatic team will carry out a flypast at Narendra Modi Stadium before the World Cup final clash. A ten-minute airshow will be carried out by the Suryakiran pack led by wing commander Sidhesh Kartik.

Singer Aditya Gadhvi will perform in the first innings drinks break, followed by performances by Pritam Chakraborty, Jonita Gandhi, Nakash Aziz, Amit Mishra, Akasa Singh, and Tushar Joshi in the innings break.

During the first innings break, a ‘parade of champions’ will be organised, which will include former captains of every world champion team.

The second-inning drinks break will have a laser and light show at the stadium.

Closing ceremony

The sky above the stadium will be decorated with 1,200 drones, forming a pattern of the name of the winning team.

More star-studded schedules

The Australian team is about to reach Ahmedabad this evening. Both teams are likely to have a gala dinner at Sabarmati River Cruise before the match, as per sources. The police security has amped up in the riverfront area.

Prime minister Narendra Modi along with union home minister Amit Shah will witness the final match at Motera Stadium on Nov 19. Moreover, Australian PM Anthony Albanese and deputy PM Richard Marles were also invited to witness the final match. However, confirmation from both the leaders is awaited.

Road diversions 

Many roads in Ahmedabad will be closed between 11 a.m. and 12 a.m.

The Ahmedabad police authorities have braced up for the final match of the World Cup. Neeraj Badgujar, additional CP (Sector 1), Ahmedabad city, reviewed the security at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on Nov 16.

Ipso facto Australia and India will share the pitch for the ODI World Cup final after 20 years, adding another layer to the recent rivalry. The last time these two teams met in a World Cup final was in 2003.

The country is all set to witness the historic battle between the two teams with a hopeful gaze, eyeing the victory after a decade.
