વિશ્વના વૈજ્ઞાનિઓ : Dennis Gabor:The Inventor of Holography

You might have seen holograms where tilting an image slightly shows an entirely different picture in 3D. Many companies use holograms on their products so that the brand name becomes visible from an angle. Today, many types of holograms exist; they were invented by Hungarian scientist Dennis Gabor. For this breakthrough, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1971.
Dennis Gabor was born in Budapest, Hungary, on June 5, 1900. During the Second World War, he served as a soldier in the army in Italy. He earned his electrical engineering degree from the Technical University in Budapest and in Berlin. He received his PhD for his work on cathode ray tubes for televisions.
In 1946, Gabor settled in Britain and continued his research. He invented holography in 1947, but practical holograms were not produced until 1960. In 1958, he joined Imperial College London as a professor. For his contributions to physics, he received numerous awards alongside the Nobel Prize. He passed away on February 8, 1979.
