Ahmedabad court grants three-day police remand for Kiran Patel

The Ahmedabad sessions court has granted a three-day police remand for conman Kiran Patel until Aug 13. The Ahmedabad crime branch had requested a seven-day remand for investigating the facts of the Bharat Patel fraud case. The crime branch arrested Patel from Srinagar and brought him to appear in Ahmedabad sessions court on Aug 10.

Conman Kiran Patel, who was sent back to Srinagar on completion of his remand in half a dozen cheating cases, was again arrested on Aug 10 on charges of cheating a businessman from  Morbi of ₹48 lakh.

The Ahmedabad crime branch arrested Kiran Patel on a transfer warrant from Srinagar on grounds of the case. The accused was then produced in the Mirzapur court on Aug 10. As per reports, the conman will be produced in the court today by the crime branchfor availing of his police remand.

Serial crook Kiran Patel’s past crimes unraveling

Produced in court on Aug 10 by the crime branch, Patel, and his wife Malini Patel, face allegations of impersonation, breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy.

The complaint against Patel, filed in May 2023, details how he deceived businessman Bharat Patel by portraying himself as a class 1 officer in 2017 and promising to assist in obtaining a permit from the Gujarat pollution control board (GPCB) for his chemical business.

Despite taking the hefty sum, he did not deliver on his promises, leading to further investigation. After looking into the matter in 2018, the businessman found that Kiran Patel had made no efforts to secure the required clearances.

These recent allegations add to six prior cases of cheating filed against Kiran Patel by the Gujarat Police. Patel was arrested in Srinagar for impersonating a PMO official. He was handed over to Gujarat police on Apr 6.

An Ahmedabad resident had lodged a complaint against Patel and his wife for cheating on the pretext of renovating the accuser’s bungalow. Patel posed as an ‘additional secretary’ in the central government.
