- નવા આશ્રમમાં ગુરુજીએ પહેલો નવો પાઠ આ આપ્યો: વિશ્વાસ વગરનો વધુ પરિશ્રમ નકામો
જાય છે, તથા ચાર અધૂરાં કામ કરવા કરતાં એક કામ પૂર્ણ કરવું વધારે સારું છે
ગુ રુજીએ નવો આશ્રમ સ્થાપ્યો. ત્યાં પાણીની સગવડ ઓછી. શિષ્યો કૂવો ખોદવા લાગ્યા. શિષ્યોમાં લિખિત મુખ્ય હતો.
એક કૂવો અડધો ખોદ્યો. પાણીનું નામનિશાન નહીં. 'આમાં તો પાણી નહીં મળે.' કહીને થોડે દૂર તેઓ બીજો કૂવો ખોદવા લાગ્યા.
થોડે સુધી એ કૂવો ખોદાયો.
તેમાંથી પણ પાણી નીકળ્યું નહીં.
'આ પણ પાણી વગરનો જ કૂવો છે.' એમ કહી તેઓ ત્રીજો કૂવો ખોદવા લાગ્યા.
ત્યાં અડધું-પડધું ખોદાયું હશે. ત્યાં પણ એ જ દશા.
શિષ્યો ખોદવા લાગ્યા ચોથો કૂવો.
ચોથામાંથી પાણી નીકળવાની આશા દેખાઈ નહીં.
શિષ્યો ગુરુજી પાસે ગયા. કહેવા લાગ્યા: 'ગુરુજી, અહીં આશ્રમ નહીં થઈ શકે કેમ કે અહીં તો પાણી જ નથી. અમે ચાર ચાર કૂવા ખોદ્યા છતાં કોઈ કૂવામાંથી પાણી નીકળ્યું નહીં.'
ગુરુજી હસ્યા. તેઓ કહે: 'બાળમિત્રો! પાણી કૂવામાં નહીં, આપણામાં હોવું જોઈએ. આપણામાં પાણી હશે તો ધરતી શું આકાશ પણ પાણી દેશે. એ લોકો તો આપણને પાણી આપવા તૈયાર જ છે, પણ કુદરત હંમેશાં પાણી માપીને પછી જ પાણી આપે છે. હા, હવે જરા પહેલો કૂવો ખોદો જોઈએ.'
શિષ્યોએ ગુરુજીની આજ્ઞા માની, તેમણે કૂવો ખોદવા માંડયો. ઘણો ઉંડો ખોધો.
અને આશ્ચર્ય!
પાણી નીકળ્યું જ.
હર્ષમાં આવી જઈને તેમણે બૂમ પાડી: 'ગુરુજી! પાણી નીકળ્યું .'
ગુરુજી કહે: 'પાણી નીકળે જ, મને તો ખાતરી હતી.'
લિખિતે પૂછ્યું: 'ગુરુજી! અમે કૂવો ખોદ્યો ત્યારે ન નીકળ્યું. તમારા કહેવાથી ખોદ્યો ત્યારે પાણી નીકળી આવ્યું એનું શું કારણ? શું આપે જાદુ કર્યું હતું?'
ગુરુજી કહે: 'જ્ઞાન એ મોટામાં મોટો જાદુ છે. જેની પાસે એ છે એ જાદુગર છે. આજે જ્ઞાનના જાદુનો હું પહેલો પાઠ શીખવું છું. તે એ છે કે શ્રમ પણ વિશ્વાસપૂર્ણ હોવો જોઈએ. આત્મશ્રદ્ધા અને ખાતરીભર્યો હોવો જોઈએ. આ કામ કરવાથી પરિણામ શુભ આવશે એવી મનમાં ખાતરી હોવી જોઈએ. તમે ચાર કૂવા ખોદવાનો શ્રમ કર્યો પણ એમાં વિશ્વાસ ન હતો. શ્રદ્ધા ન હતી. એક કૂવામાંથી પાણી ન નીકળ્યું કે બીજો ખોધો. બીજામાંથી નહીં નીકળ્યું કે ત્રીજો ખોધો અને ચોથો તો એ ખાતરી સાથે જ ખોદ્યો કે પાણી નહીં જ નીકળે. હવે વિશ્વાસનું પાણી ન હોય તો ધરતીનું પાણી ક્યાંથી નીકળે? જ્યારે મને તો ખાતરી હતી કે પહેલા કૂવામાંથી જ પાણી નીકળશે. થોડે છેટે જ નદી હોય અને પૃથ્વીના પેટાળમાં પાણી ન હોય એવું બને? મેં શ્રદ્ધા અને ખાતરી સાથે એ જ કૂવો ફરીથી ખોદાવ્યો. જરાક ઊંડો તમારે ખોદવો પડયો. થોડોક પરિશ્રમ કરવો પડયો પણ પાણી નીકળ્યું તો
ખરું ને!'
શિષ્યો બોલી ઉઠયા: 'નીકળ્યું ગુરુજી,
નીકળ્યું જ.'
અને નવા આશ્રમમાં ગુરુજીએ પહેલો નવો પાઠ આ આપ્યો: વિશ્વાસ વગરનો વધુ પરિશ્રમ નકામો જાય છે, તથા ચાર અધૂરાં કામ કરવા કરતાં એક કામ પૂર્ણ કરવું વધારે સારું છે. બોલો, ક્યું પાણી પાણી આપે છે?
શિષ્યો એક સાથે બોલી ઊઠયા: 'વિશ્વાસનું પાણી.'
The Water of Faith
T he Guruji established a new ashram. There, the water facility was scarce.
The disciples began to dig a well. Among the disciples, Likhit was the main one.
One well was dug halfway. There was no sign of water. Saying, "We will not find water in this," they moved a short distance away and began digging a second well.
That well was dug for some distance.
Water did not come out of it either.
"This one is also a waterless well," saying this, they started digging a third well.
That one was also dug about halfway. It was the same situation there too.
The disciples began to dig a fourth well.
There seemed no hope of water coming from the fourth one.
The disciples went to the Guruji. They began to say: "Guruji, an ashram cannot be made here because there is no water. We dug four wells, yet water did not come out of any well."
The Guruji smiled. He said: "My young friends! The water should not be in the well, but within us. If we have water within us, what to speak of the earth, even the sky will give water. They are ready to give us water, but nature always measures our faith and only then gives water. Yes, now go and dig the first well."
The disciples obeyed the Guruji's command; they started digging the well. They dug very deep.
And surprise!
Water indeed came out.
Overcome with joy, they shouted: "Guruji! Water has come out!"
The Guruji said: "Water was bound to come out, I was certain of it."
Likhit asked: "Guruji! When we dug the well, it did not come out. When we dug on your instruction, the water came out. What is the reason for this? Did you perform magic?"
The Guruji said: "Knowledge is the greatest magic. The one who has it is a magician. Today, I am teaching the first lesson of the magic of knowledge. It is that labor must also be full of faith. It should be filled with self-confidence and certainty. There must be a conviction in the mind that doing this work will bring a good result. You put in the labor of digging four wells, but there was no faith in it. There was no belief. When water didn't come from one well, you dug another. When it didn't come from the second, you dug a third, and the fourth was dug with the certainty that water would not come out at all. Now, if there is no water of faith, how can the water of the earth come out? Whereas, I was certain that water would come out from the first well itself. How can it be that there is a river just a short distance away and no water in the earth's belly? I had you dig that same well again with belief and certainty. You had to dig a little deeper. You had to put in a little more effort, but the water did come out, didn't it!"
The disciples exclaimed: "It came out, Guruji, it surely came out."
And in the new ashram, the Guruji gave this first new lesson: Excessive effort without faith goes to waste, and it is better to complete one task than to do four tasks incompletely.
"Tell me, which water gives water?"
The disciples exclaimed in unison: "The water of faith."
