The Sneaky Frigate Bird – A Master of Stealing Food!
Most big birds hunt smaller birds, but peaceful birds usually mind their own business. Yet, some birds are known to steal food from others instead of finding it themselves. One such famous bird is the Frigate Bird from South Africa.
Living near the sea, the Frigate Bird is an expert at snatching food right out of other birds’ beaks! It has a long beak, long wings, and a long tail. Its tummy can puff up like a red balloon, and its feathers are jet black. Though it looks strange and can spread its wings nearly 2 meters wide, it actually can’t swim, can’t walk properly on land, and can’t take off from flat ground!
So, what does it do? It builds nests on low tree branches and uses clever tricks to survive. It mostly catches fish from shallow waters, and sometimes snatches food from birds like egrets! Because of its odd looks and sneaky habits, it's often the star attraction in bird zoos.
