ઊંઘણશી સાહેબ .

- વિદ્યાર્થીઓને લેસન આપીને સાહેબ ઊંઘી જાય. પછી એમનાં નસકોરાં બોલે એટલે છોકરાં 'હોહો... હાહા... હીહી' કરવા માંડે. અવાજથી સાહેબ જાગી જાય ને પછી બૂમ પાડે...

- એક વાર્તા... બે ભાષામાં!

એ ક હતા સાહેબ. જબરા ઊંઘણશી. બાળવર્ગમાં પણ ઊંઘી જાય. છોકરાંને આખો પાઠ લખવાનો આપીને કહે, 'તમે શાંતિથી લખો, હું તમારે માટે એક મજાની વાર્તા બનાવી રાખું.'

એટલું કહીને ઊંઘી જાય. પછી એમનાં નસકોરાં બોલે એટલે છોકરાં - 'હોહો... હાહા... હીહી' કરવા માંડે. અવાજથી સાહેબ જાગી જાય ને બૂમ પાડીને કહે,

'અલ્યા, કોણ બોલ્યું છે?'

ચકો કહે, 'અકો બોલ્યો!'

બકો કહે, 'ટકો બોલ્યો, હું ના બોલ્યો!'

પછી બધાં છોકરાંને એક એક થપ્પડ મારીને સાહેબ કહે, 'જો હવે કોઈ બોલશે તો તેને મરઘો બનવું પડશે.'

પછી છોકરાં થોડીક વાર શાંત થઈ ગયાં.

રિસેસમાં બધાં છોકરાં ભેગા થયાં. અકો કહે, 'આ ઊંઘણશી સાહેબનું કાંઈક કરવું પડશે!'

બકો કહો, 'શું કરીશું?'

ટકો કહે, 'મોટા સાહેબને ફરિયાદ કરીએ!'

ચકો કહે, 'ના-ના-ના! એવું નથી કરવું. કાલે હું એક આઇડિયા લેતો આવીશ. મારા પપ્પા 

ડૉક્ટર છે!'

બીજે દિવસે બાળવર્ગમાં આવીને સાહેબ કહે, 'છોકરાંઓ, તમે બીજો પાઠ લખો. હું તમારે માટે મજાની એક વાર્તા બનાવી રાખું છું.'

એટલું કહીને સાહેબ ઊંઘી ગયા. પછી એમનાં નસકોરાં બોલવા લાગ્યાં, એટલે છોકરાં 'હોહો... હાહા...હીહી' કરવા માંડયા. અવાજથી સાહેબ જાગી ગયા. બૂમ પાડીને તે કહે, 'અલ્યા, કોણ બોલ્યું એ?'

ચકો કહે, 'અકો બોલ્યો!'

બકો કહે, 'ટકો બોલ્યો, હું ના બોલ્યો!'

પછી બધાં છોકરાંને એક એક થપ્પડ મારીને સાહેબ કહે, જો હવે કોઈ બોલશે તો તેને મરઘો બનવું પડશે.'

પછી છોકરાં થોડીક વાર શાંત થઈ ગયાં.

આજે પણ રિસેસમાં બધાં છોકરાં ભેગાં થયાં. ત્યાં ચકો કહે, 'ઉપાય મળી ગયો છે. મારા ડોક્ટર પપ્પાએ તે બતાવ્યો છે.'

બધાં કહે, 'શો છે ઉપાય?'

પછી ચકો હાથમાં રૂનું પૂમડું બતાવીને કહે, 'આ છે એનો ઉપાય! સાહેબ ઊંઘી જાય પછી તે ઉપાય કરવાનો છે. તે કામ હું કરીશ.'

આજે ત્રીજો પાઠ લખવાનો આપીને સાહેબ ઊંધી ગયા. પછી તેમનાં નસકોરાં બોલવા લાગ્યાં.

ચકો ઊભો થયો. ધીરેથી તે સાહેબ તરફ ચાલ્યો. બધાં છોકરાં ઊંચાં થઈ થઈને જોઈ રહ્યાં હતાં.

ચકાએ એક હાથમાં રૂ નો પોલ લીધો. તેમાંથી થોડુંક રૂ કાઢ્યું. પછી તે સાહેબના કાન પાસે ગયો, ને એ રૂ સાહેબના કાનોમાં મૂકી દીધું. પછી પેન્સિલ વડે તે કાનોમાં ઘુસાડી દીધું, ઊંડું અને પછી ચકો ધીમેથી આવીને પોતાની જગ્યાએ બેસી ગયો. છોકરાઓના અવાજથી ખલેલ પહોંચતી બંધ થઈ.  

થોડીક વાર પછી સાહેબ જાગ્યા, 'હાશ, આજે તો મજા આવી ગઈ. ઊંઘ પણ કેવી! અને બાળકો, તમારી વાર્તા પણ બની ગઈ છે! આજે હું બહુ ખુશ છું. ચાલો બાળકો, આજે હું તમને એક વાર્તા કહું છું, તે સાંભળો. એક હતા સાહેબ ....!'

સાહેબ વાર્તા કહી રહ્યા હતા અને બાળકો ખુશખુશાલ થઈને ડોલી રહ્યાં હતાં!

The Sleepyhead Sir

T here once was a teacher, Sir. He was an absolute sleepyhead. He would even fall asleep in the children's class. He would assign the students a full lesson to write and say, "You write quietly. I will prepare a fun story for you."

Saying just that, he would fall asleep. Then, when his snores began, the children would start making noises-"Haha… Ha-ha hee-hee!" The noise would wake Sir up, and he would shout, "Hey! Who was talking?"

Chako would say:

"Ako talked, Bako talked, Tako talked, I did not talk!"

Then, Sir would give every child a slap and say, "Now, if anyone speaks, they will have to become a rooster (do a rooster punishment)." The children would then remain quiet for a while.

During recess, all the boys gathered. Ako said, "We have to do something about this sleepyhead Sir!" Bako asked, "What should we do?" Tako suggested, "Let's complain to the headmaster!" Chako said, "No, no, no! We won't do that. Tomorrow, I will bring an idea. My dad is a doctor!"

The next day, Sir came to the children's class and said, "Children, you write the second lesson. I am going to prepare a fun story for you." Saying that, Sir fell asleep. Then, his snores started, so the children began making noises-"Haha, Ha-ha hee-hee!"

The noise woke Sir up. He shouted, "Hey! Who was that talking?"

Chako replied:

"Ako talked, Bako talked, Tako talked, I did not talk!"

Then, Sir gave every child a slap and said, "Now, if anyone speaks, they will have to become a rooster." The children were quiet for a while.

Again today, all the boys gathered during recess. Chako said, "I have found the solution! My doctor dad showed it to me." Everyone asked, "What is the solution?"

Chako then showed them a cotton roll in his hand and said, "This is the solution! We have to use it after Sir falls asleep. I will do the job."

Today, Sir gave them the third lesson to write and fell asleep. Then, his snores began. Chako got up. He walked slowly toward Sir. All the children craned their necks to watch.

Chako took the cotton roll in one hand. He pulled out a little bit of cotton. Then he went near Sir's ears and placed the cotton into Sir's ears. Then, he used a pencil to push it deep into the ears. After that, Chako quietly returned and sat in his place. The disturbance caused by the children's voices stopped.

After a while, Sir woke up. "Ah, today was so fun! What a sleep! And children, your story is also ready! I am very happy today. Come on, children, today I will tell you a story. Listen to this:"

"There once was a teacher...!"

Sir was telling the story, and the children were happy and swaying with delight.
