વિશ્વના વિજ્ઞાનીઓ

To detect diseases in the human body, many tools have been invented – like the stethoscope, X-rays, and lab tests. But the most powerful method in modern times is the MRI scan.

MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and it gives detailed images of the organs inside our body. It is especially useful for detecting dangerous diseases like cancer. The MRI machine is huge and uses strong electromagnets. The brilliant scientist who invented it was Raymond Vahan Damadian. He was born on March 16, 1936, in New York. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, he completed his M.D. at Einstein College of Medicine. He realized that elements like potassium and sodium inside our body react with magnetic fields. Using this idea, he built a machine that could scan the inside of the body without surgery. In 1977, he succeeded in detecting a cancerous tumor with his machine.

Raymond started his own company to build MRI machines. For this amazing invention, he received America’s highest award in technology – the National Medal of Technology. In 2003, there was some controversy when his name wasn’t included for the Nobel Prize, even though he was one of the key inventors.

Raymond wasn’t just a scientist—he was also a good tennis player, a musician, and an author of books!
