The Lion's Kindness Saved His Life

- Chandu was taken aback. How could someone he had just mocked still be so nice to him?

Deep in the lush green rainforest, a lion was sleeping peacefully, his big head resting on his paws.

Suddenly - whoosh! - a pigeon flew too close and brushed past his nose.

The lion woke up with a growl and slammed his huge paw down, trapping the little bird beneath it.

"Please don't hurt me!" cried the pigeon. "Let me go, and one day I'll return the favor!"

The lion laughed.

"You? A tiny bird? How could you ever help me?"

But he was in a good mood, so he lifted his paw and let her go.

Days passed. One afternoon, while the lion was stalking prey in the forest, he walked right into a hunter's trap!

Thick ropes tightened around him. He roared and thrashed, but the net held firm.

His loud roar echoed through the trees…

And the pigeon, flying nearby, heard it.

"That sounds like the lion!" she gasped.

She followed the sound and saw him trapped, struggling hard.

Without wasting a second, the little pigeon flew off and called out to all the animals in the forest.

"Help the lion! He's in trouble!"

Soon, the forest shook with the sound of paws, hooves, and claws.

The deer, monkeys, rabbits, elephants, and birds came rushing.

Together, they scared the hunter away and tore open the net, freeing the lion at last.

The lion looked around in amazement.

"You… you came back," he said to the pigeon.

"I told you I would," she smiled.

"And I brought friends."

From that day on, the lion and the pigeon became the best of friends, and all the animals in the forest celebrated their courage and kindness.

Moral 

Never underestimate a kind heart.

Even the smallest friend can make the biggest difference.
