જંગલનો રાજા સિંહ અને નાની અમથી માખી

- એક વાર્તા... બે ભાષામાં!

- સિંહ બોલ્યો -'મીઠી! તું તો મારી સામે કોઈ વિસાતમાં નહોતી... પણ આજે તું મારા જીવથી મોટી છે અને મારાથી પણ મોટી છે.' માખી હસીને બોલી- 'મહાનતા કદથી મપાતી નથી, રાજા સાહેબ, પણ ભલાઈમાં જ સાચું વજન છે.'

એ ક જંગલમાં રહેતો શેરસિંહ. એ  જંગલનો રાજા હતો. એની ગર્જના અતિ ભારે. એની ધાકથી ભલભલા પશુઓ ફફડી ઉઠતાં.  એ પોતાની જાતને સૌથી વધુ તાકાતવાન માનતો. એકવાર તે શાંતિથી ઊંઘી રહ્યો  હતો ત્યારે તેના નાક પર આવીને એક નાનકડી મીઠી માખી બેસી ગઈ!

માખીએ મજાકમાં તેના કાન પાસે ગુણગણવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. શેરસિંહ ઊઠયો અને રાતોપીળો થઇ ગયો.  તેણે ગુસ્સામાં કહ્યું -

 'તું જાણે છે હું કોણ છું? હું તને એક તાળીથી મસળી નાખું એમ છું.'

મીઠી માખીએ નમ્ર અવાજે ઉત્તર આપ્યો-

'મારું કદ નાનું છે, પણ મારું હૃદય મોટું છે.   હું તો ફક્ત મજાક કરતી હતી.  મને ક્ષમા કરો.'

શેરસિંહ ગુસ્સો ગજાવતો રહ્યો ને મીઠી માખી ઊડી ગઈ.

 બીજા દિવસે શેરસિંહ એ જ જગ્યાએ ફસાયો.  એક શિકારીએ ત્યાં જાળ નાખી હતી.  સિંહ ગર્જના કરતો રહ્યો, પણ ત્યાં કોઈ ના આવ્યું.  

એ વખતે મીઠી માખીએ સિંહનો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો અને તે ઝડપથી ઊડીને આવી પહોંચી.

મીઠી માખી તરત પોતાની ખાસ તરકીબ સાથે જાળના નાના છિદ્રમાં ઘૂસી ગઈ અને પોતાના તીક્ષ્ણ દાંત વડે બંધક તંતુઓને ઢીલા કરી નાખ્યા.  થોડીવારમાં જાળ એક કઠણ ભાગ ખૂલી ગયો અને સિંહ મુક્ત થયો! શેરસિંહ મુક્ત થયો પણ આઘાતમાં સરી ગયો. જોકે મીઠી માખીના ગીત-ગુંજનથી તે સભાન થયો. 

સિંહ બોલ્યો -'મીઠી! તું તો મારી સામે કોઈ વિસાતમાં નહોતી... પણ આજે તું મારા જીવથી મોટી છે અને મારાથી પણ મોટી છે.'

માખી હસીને બોલી-

'મહાનતા કદથી મપાતી નથી, રાજા સાહેબ, પણ ભલાઈમાં જ સાચું વજન છે.'

 તે દિવસ પછી જંગલમાં આ સૂત્ર વહેતું થયું છે.

મહાન બનવું હોય તો મીઠી માખી જેવી નમ્રતા શીખો અને શેરસિંહ જેવી દૃઢતા સાથે તેને મન આપો.

 મીઠી-માખી નાનકડી હોવા છતાં પણ ધીરજ, હિંમત અને નમ્રતા સાથે મહાન કાર્યો કરી શકી તે કેવી મજાની વાત! 

The King of the Forest, the Lion, and the Tiny Fly

The lion said: "Meethi! You were of no account in front of me... but today you are greater than my life and greater than me." The fly laughed and said: "Greatness is not measured by size, King, but true weight lies in goodness."

I n a forest lived Shersinh (the lion)-he was the king of the forest and his roar was very heavy; even the strongest animals would tremble at his power. He considered himself the most powerful of all. Once, while he was sleeping peacefully, a tiny fly named Meethi came and sat on his nose!

The fly playfully started humming near his ear; Shersinh woke up and turned red with rage. He said in anger:

"Do you know who I am? I can crush you with a single clap."

The fly answered in a humble voice: "My size is small, but my heart of humanity is large. I was only joking. Please forgive me."

Shersinh kept displaying his anger; the fly flew away.

The next day, Shersinh got trapped in that same spot. A hunter threw a net over him. The lion kept roaring, but no one came there. At that time, Meethi the fly heard the lion's voice and reached there quickly by flying.

Using a special trick, the fly immediately entered through the small holes of the net and loosened the binding threads with her sharp teeth. In a short while, a part of the net opened and the lion became free!

Shersinh was free but had slipped into shock; however, he regained consciousness from the fly's humming song. The lion said: "Meethi! You were of no account in front of me... but today you are greater than my life and greater than me."

The fly laughed and said: "Greatness is not measured by size, King, but true weight lies in goodness."

Since that day, this slogan has been flowing through the wilderness: "If you want to become great, learn humility like Meethi, and respect it with the firmness of Shersinh."

Highlight: Meethi the fly, despite being tiny, performed great deeds with patience, courage, and humility!

"And whoever exalts himself will be humbled; and whoever humbles himself will be exalted."
