- બાળકોએ તો સ્વપ્નમાં પણ મેળાની મજા માણી. બીજે દિવસે સવારે બન્ને પરિવારે ભેગાં થઈ શાકભાજીનાં બીજ વાવ્યાં ને છોડ પણ રોપ્યાં
સ રસ મજાનું સુંદરવન. તેમાં લીમડા બખોલે પોપટનો પરિવાર રહે. આંબા ડાળે કાગડાનો પરિવાર રહે. બંને પરિવાર સંપીને રહે ને મોજ કરે. શ્રાવણ, ભાદરવાની પૂનમે સુંદરવનના સરોવર પાળે મજાનો મેળો ભરાય. પૂનમને દિવસે બન્ને પરિવારે મેળામાં જવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. મેળાને દિવસે વહેલી સવારે કંકુ કાગડી ત્રણે બચ્ચાં સાથે તૈયાર થઈ ગઈ. પોપટલાલ ને મેનાબેન પણ બન્ને બાળકો સાથે તૈયાર થઈ ગયાં. બન્ને પરિવાર બસ સ્ટેન્ડ પર પહોંચ્યાં. પહેલી બસ આવી પણ એમાં જગ્યા ન મળી. બીજી બસમાં પોપટલાલનો પરિવાર ચઢી ગયો. ત્રીજી બસમાં કંકુ કાગડી પરિવાર સાથે મેળે પહોંચી.
સરોવર પાળે સરસ મજાનો મેળો લાગ્યો હતો. મેળામાં ખૂબ ભીડ હતી. મેનાબેન અને કંકુબેન બાળકોને સાચવી મેળામાં ફરવા લાગ્યાં. સૌથી પહેલાં ચકડોળ પાસે ગયાં. ટિકિટ લઈ પોતાનાં બાળકો સાથે કંકુબેન અને મેનાબેન ચકડોળમાં બેઠાં. બાળકો ખૂબ રાજી થયાં. પછી જાદુગરનો ખેલ જોવા ગયાં. જાદુના ખેલ જોવાની બાળકોને ખૂબ મજા પડી. બાળકોએ મોતનો કૂવો જોવાની જીદ કરી એટલે તે પણ જોવા ગયાં.
મેળામાં ફરી ફરીને બાળકો ભૂખ્યાં થયાં એટલે સૌ નાસ્તાનાં સ્ટોલ પર નાસ્તો કરવા ગયાં. મરચાં અને બટાકાનાં ભજીયા જોઈ પોપટલાલના મોઢામાં પાણી આવી ગયું. પોપટલાલનાં પરિવારે ભજીયાં ખાધા. કાગડાભાઈના પરિવારે શાક-પૂરી ખાધાં. બાળકોએ શીંગ રેવડી ને રમકડાં પણ લીધાં. પછી સૌ ઓર્ગેનિક બિયારણનાં સ્ટોલ પર ગયાં. ત્યાંથી જુદાં જુદાં શાકભાજીનાં બીજ અને છોડ લીધાં. કેરી, ચીકુની કલમ પણ લીધી. સાંજ થતાં સૌ બસમાં બેસી ઘરે પાછા વળ્યાં.
થાકીને લોથપોથ થયેલાં સૌ ઊંઘી ગયાં. બાળકોએ તો સ્વપ્નમાં પણ મેળાની મજા માણી. બીજે દિવસે સવારે બન્ને પરિવારે ભેગાં થઈ શાકભાજીનાં બીજ વાવ્યાં, છોડ રોપ્યાં ને ચીકુ કેરીની કલમ પણ રોપી દીધી. સુંદરવનમાં રહેતાં સૌને પોપટલાલે વૃક્ષ વાવવાનો ને સાચવવાનો સુંદર સંદેશો આપ્યો. સુંદરવનમાં રહેતાં સૌએ પોપટલાલની વાતને વધાવી લીધી.
The Fair at Sundarvan
I n the heart of a beautiful forest called Sundarvan, a family of parrots lived in the hollow of a neem tree, while a family of Kagdabhai made their home on a nearby mango branch. The two families were the best of neighbors, living together in perfect harmony. Every year, during the full moon of the monsoon months, a grand fair was held by the lakeside, and this year, both families decided to go together.
On the morning of the fair, Kanku the crow was ready early with her three little ones. Popatlal the parrot and his partner, Menaben, were also ready with their two youngsters. They all headed to the bus stand. The first bus was too crowded to board, but Popatlal's family managed to catch the second one. Kanku and her brood followed shortly after on the third bus.
The lakeside was transformed into a bustling fairground. It was crowded and lively. Menaben and Kankuben kept a close eye on the children as they explored. Their first stop was the giant wheel; the children's faces lit up with joy as they spun around high above the ground. Next, they watched a magic show that left the little ones spellbound. The kids then insisted on seeing the "Well of Death" motorcycle stunts, so they all went to cheer at the spectacle.
After all that excitement, the children were famished. They headed to the food stalls, where the sight of spicy chili and potato fritters made Popatlal's mouth water. The parrot family feasted on fritters, while the crow family enjoyed traditional shak-puri. Before leaving, the children picked out some peanuts, sweets, and toys.
Before heading home, the families visited an organic stall, where they bought vegetable seeds, saplings, and even mango and chikoo grafts. As evening fell, they boarded the bus and returned home, exhausted but happy.
That night, everyone fell into a deep sleep, the children still dreaming of the lights and sounds of the fair. The next morning, the two families teamed up to plant their new seeds and saplings. Popatlal shared a beautiful message with all the creatures of Sundarvan about the importance of planting and protecting trees-a message that everyone in the forest took to heart.
