પિન્કી અને ગાય .

- એક વાર્તા... બે ભાષામાં!

- ગાય ખરેખર પાછળ આવી. અરે આવી એટલું જ નહીં, ગાય પિન્કીની પાછળ દોડવા જ લાગી, દોડવા જ લાગી. હવે તે મૂળા ખાધા વગર છોડે તેમ ન હતી. તેણે મૂળા ખાધા જ. દોડતાં દોડતાં પિન્કી પડી ગઈ. ગાય મૂળા, ફૂદીનો, કોથમીર ખેંચી ગઈ, ખાઈ ગઈ!

'ગા ય ગાય લે...' ગાય જરા દૂર હતી. પિન્કીના હાથમાં કંપાસ હતો. કંપાસ ધરીને જ તે કહેતી હતી: 'ગાય ગાય લે..' પિન્કીને એની મમ્મીએ મૂળા લેવા મોકલી હતી. સાથે ફુદીનો, કોથમીરનો મસાલો લાવવાનો હતો. પિન્કી પૈસા ખોઈ ન નાખે માટે મમ્મીએ પૈસા કંપાસમાં આપ્યા હતા.

'ગાય ગાય લે...' કહીને પિન્કી ગાયની ગમ્મત કરતી હતી. ગાય પાછળ પાછળ આવવા લાગી તેના મનમાં કે જરૂર કંઈક હશે. ગાય 'લે'જેવા શબ્દો સમજતી હતી.

હસીને પિન્કી દોડી ગઈ. ગાય ત્યાં જ ઊભી રહી ગઈ.

'ગાયને કેવી છેતરી', એમ વિચારી પિન્કી રાજી થતી હતી. તેણે શાકની લારી પાસે જઈને મૂળા, કોથમીર, ફૂદીનો વગેરે લીધું. શેરીને નાકે ઘણાં શાકવાળા ઉભા રહેતા. ગાયોને કંઈક ખાવા મળી જતું એટલે ગાયો પણ ત્યાં ટોળે વળતી.

મૂળા લઈ પિન્કી પાછી ફરી. આ વખતે તેણે એ જ ગાયની પાછી મશ્કરી કરી: 'ગાય ગાય લે'. ગાય આ વખતે છેતરાઈ નહિ. તેણે મૂળા જોઈ લીધા હતા. તે પિન્કીની પાછળ દોડી અને દોડતી રહી.

પિન્કી ગભરાઈ ગઈ.

આ તો ગાય ખરેખર પાછળ આવી. અરે આવી એટલું જ નહિ, ગાય તેની પાછળ દોડવા જ લાગી, દોડવા જ લાગી. હવે તે મૂળા ખાધા વગર છોડે તેમ ન હતી. તેણે મૂળા ખાધા જ. દોડતાં દોડતાં પિન્કી પડી ગઈ. ગાય મૂળા, ફૂદીનો, કોથમીર ખેંચી ગઈ, ખાઈ ગઈ.

જોનારાઓએ 'એ-એ' કર્યું. 'અરે છોકરી પાછળ ગાય દોડી'ના પોકાર કર્યા. પિન્કીને બધાંએ બચાવી લીધી.

ડરેલી, બીધેલી, ગભરાયેલી, ચમકેલી પિન્કી રડતી રડતી 'ગાય ગાય' કરતી ઘરે પહોંચી.

દોડી આવીને મમ્મીએ પૂછ્યું: 'શું થયું ?'

પિન્કી બોલી ઊઠી: 'ગાય...'

બાળમિત્રો ! ગાય જાતે જ પાછળ દોડી હતી કે પિન્કીએ જ તેને પોતાની પાછળ દોડાવી હતી? કોની ગમ્મત થઈ ? કોને ગમ્મત ભારે પડી ?

Pinky and the Cow

This time, the cow really came after Pinky. Not only did it come, but the cow started running after her, and kept running!

'C ow, cow, take this...' The cow was a little far away. Pinky held a geometry box in her hand. Pointing the geometry box, she kept repeating, 'Cow, cow, take this...' Pinky's mother had sent her to buy radishes. She also had to bring mint and coriander. To ensure Pinky didn't lose the money, her mother had given the money inside the geometry box.

Saying 'Cow, cow, take this,' Pinky was teasing the cow. The cow started following her because it thought there must be something for it. The cow understood words like 'take this' (le in Gujarati).

Laughing, Pinky ran away. The cow stopped right there.

'How I tricked the cow,' Pinky thought, feeling happy. She went to the vegetable cart and bought radishes, coriander, mint, etc. Many vegetable sellers stood at the street corner. Cows also gathered there because they would often find something to eat.

Taking the radishes, Pinky started back. This time, she made fun of the same cow again: 'Cow, cow, take this.' This time, the cow was not fooled. It had already seen the radishes. It ran after Pinky and kept running.

Pinky became scared.

This time, the cow really came after her. Not only did it come, but the cow started running after her, and kept running!

Now, the cow was not going to leave without eating the radishes. It just had to eat the radishes. While running, Pinky fell down. The cow snatched the radishes, mint, and coriander and ate them.

People who saw this cried out, "Hey! Hey!" and shouted, "The cow is chasing the girl!" Everyone helped save Pinky.

Scared, frightened, panicked, and startled, Pinky reached home crying, calling out, "Cow! Cow!"

Her mother rushed over and asked, "What happened?"

Pinky could only manage to blurt out, "Cow..."
