- What to Do!

- Every child makes silly mistakes, but some feel frustrated when they happen too often. Kahaan, an 8-year-old from Jamnagar, has shared his problem with us. Let's see how we can help him (and many others like him). Learn to slow down, focus, and have fun while avoiding those pesky mistakes!

Hello,

I am Kahaan. I live in Jamnagar. I am 8 years old and study in Class 2. My problem is that I make silly mistakes in my notebooks and exams, even when I know the correct answer.

I think it happens because I try to do everything in a hurry. But I really want to improve myself. Please guide me.

- Kahaan Adhvaryu

Hello Kahaan!

First of all, thank you for writing your problem so honestly. You know what? You're not alone! Every child (and even many grown-ups!) makes silly mistakes. Imagine a teacher forgetting her own lunchbox, or a father searching for glasses that are already on his head. Silly mistakes are part of life! But since you are so eager to improve, that's the real magic-you already have the key to solving the problem.

Let's playfully talk about how you can make fewer mistakes and shine brighter in your studies.

The "Tortoise vs. Rabbit" Lesson

Remember the story of the hare and the tortoise? The rabbit ran so fast that he didn't pay attention, and the tortoise won by moving slowly but carefully. Right now, you're a bit like that rabbit-zooooming through your work. So here's a little trick: next time you're writing in your notebook or solving sums, pretend you are the tortoise. Go slow and steady. You'll notice fewer mistakes popping up.

The "Detective Glasses" Trick

After writing an answer, wear your "detective glasses." Okay, not real ones-you can even make pretend glasses with your fingers! Now read your answer as if you are a detective searching for clues. Did you miss a word? Did you write "21" instead of "12"? This playful checking habit can save you from many silly errors.

Make a "Mistake Monster"

Here's a fun idea. Draw a cute monster on a piece of paper and call it your "Mistake Monster." Every time you make a mistake, put a small tick or star near the monster. Then say, "Aha! I caught you, Mistake Monster!" Instead of feeling sad about mistakes, you will feel like a superhero catching villains. Slowly, the ticks will get fewer, because the monster will shrink when you get stronger.

Count to Five Rule

Before moving to the next answer, close your eyes, take a deep breath, and count slowly: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5." This mini-pause is like pressing the "refresh button" in your brain. It helps you focus better and keeps the hurry-burry away.

Turn Mistakes into a Game

Keep a small diary called "My Silly Mistake Book." Whenever you make a mistake, write it down in the diary. At the end of the week, see how many mistakes you caught. Challenge yourself: "This week I'll have fewer than last week!" You can even reward yourself with a small chocolate or extra playtime when you win.

Practice the Magic of Mindfulness

Mindfulness means paying full attention to what you're doing, without rushing. You can practice it in a fun way:

When brushing your teeth, count how many brush strokes you make.

When eating, notice the taste of every bite.

When writing, notice the shape of every letter.

This practice trains your brain to focus better, and slowly, mistakes will reduce.

Be Kind to Yourself

Even if you make mistakes, don't scold yourself too much. Remember, making mistakes is also a way of learning. Every great scientist, writer, and artist has made mistakes-sometimes BIG ones! What makes them special is that they kept improving. You are already on the right path because you WANT to get better. That's half the work done!

Share and Celebrate

Tell your parents or teacher about the tricks you are trying. Share your small victories-like "Today I double-checked my answers!" or "I caught three mistakes myself!" They will be proud, and you'll feel extra motivated.

The Big Secret: Enjoy the Process

When you enjoy writing, solving sums, or answering questions, your brain naturally pays more attention. Don't think of schoolwork as a race. Think of it as a puzzle, an adventure, or a treasure hunt. When learning feels fun, mistakes run away.

Final Cheer

Dear Kahaan, silly mistakes are not your enemy-they are little reminders asking you to slow down and focus. With your honesty, determination, and these playful tricks, you'll soon become the master of careful work. And remember: even if a few silly mistakes sneak in, they don't decide how smart or wonderful you are. You're already doing great!

So go ahead, be the tortoise, wear your detective glasses, and keep catching that Mistake Monster. Schoolwork will become more fun, and exams will feel easier.

All the best, champion!
