M aya was born in Kolkata and lived in Tirupati Nagar. Her father's name was Ajaybhai, and her mother's name was Vrundaben. Maya loved drawing. Ever since she was very small, she filled her notebooks with flowers, birds, houses, and smiling faces.

Her mother was a poet and always encouraged her.

"One day," her mother would say with a smile, "your drawings will make many people happy."

Maya would laugh and draw even more. But when Maya was seven years old, something terrible happened.

One day, she met with a serious accident. Both of her hands were badly injured. Maya was heartbroken.

"How will I draw again?" she cried. "Drawing is my favorite thing in the world!"

For many days, Maya sat quietly and sadly in her room. She looked at her crayons and sketchbooks, but she could not touch them. Then, one evening, while Maya was watching television, she saw an advertisement about artificial hands. Her eyes lit up.

"Papa!" she called excitedly. "Please look! Maybe this can help me!"

Ajaybhai watched the advertisement carefully. Then he spoke to Vrundaben, and the very next day, they took Maya to a doctor. The doctor examined Maya and gave her artificial hands. At first, using them was not easy.

Maya could hardly move them properly. Holding a pencil felt strange, and drawing even a small line was difficult.

But Maya did not give up.

Every day, she practiced.

She practiced making straight lines. Then circles. Then flowers and little birds. Some days she became tired. Some days she felt like crying. But each time, her mother encouraged her.

"You are brave," Vrundaben would say. "Keep trying. Dreams never come true for people who give up."

Slowly, Maya improved.

After a month, she could draw much better. After a few more months, her drawings became beautiful again.

Soon, everyone in the neighborhood came to see Maya's pictures. They were amazed by her talent.

As Maya grew older, she continued to practice and work hard. Years later, Maya became a famous artist. Her paintings were displayed in galleries, and people from many places came to see them.

Whenever someone asked Maya the secret of her success, she smiled and said, "I never stopped believing in my dream."

Maya's story teaches us that courage, hope, and hard work can help us overcome even the biggest difficulties.
