- 'ગુજરાત સમાચાર' અને કલાસ્મૃતિ કલ્ચરલ સેન્ટરે યોજેલી વાર્તાકથન સ્પર્ધા અથવા તો સ્ટોરીટેલિંગ કોમ્પિટીશનમાં શું શું થયું?
તારીખ હતી, ૨૧ સપ્ટેમ્બર ૨૦૨૫.
દિવસ હતો, રવિવાર.
સમય હતો સવારનો અને સ્થળ હતું, અમદાવાદમાં એસજી હાઇવે પર જીએસટીવીના કેમ્પસમાં આવેલું કલાસ્મૃતિ એટલે કે સુપર વાઇબ્રન્ટ સ્મૃતિ શાહ કલ્ચરલ સેન્ટર!
એમાંય આ દિવસે તો માહોલ જબરદસ્ત જીવંત બની ગયો હતો, કેમ કે આખા અમદાવાદમાંથી જિંગલ જિંગલ ક્યુટી ચેમ્પ્સ પોતાના પેરેન્ટ્સ, ફેમિલી મેમ્બર અથવા તો સ્કૂલ રિપ્રેઝન્ટેટિવ સાથે થનગન થનગન કરતાં કલાસ્મૃતિ પહોંચી ગયા હતા.
શા માટે? વાર્તાકથન સ્પર્ધા અથવા તો સ્ટોરીટેલિંગ કોમ્પિટીશનમાં ભાગ લેવા માટે! ગુજરાત સમાચારની સાથે દર શનિવારે પ્રકાશિત થતું તમારું ફેવરિટ જિંગલ જિંગલ ઝગમગ અને કલાસ્મૃતિએ સંયુક્તપણે અમદાવાદની સ્કૂલો માટે આ કોમ્પિટીશનનું આયોજન કર્યું હતું.
કુલ ૧૫ સ્કૂલોના ૩૧ સ્માર્ટ સ્ટુડન્ટસે ઉત્સાહપૂર્વક તેમાં ભાગ લીધો હતો. જિંગલ જિંગલ ઝગમગના છપાયેલી કોઈ પણ મનપસંદ ટૂંકી વાર્તા એમણે ભાવવાહી રૂપે રજૂ કરવાની હતી... એટલે કે વિથ એક્સપ્રેશન્સ નરેટ કરવાની હતી.
સાચ્ચે, બધા ક્યુટી ચેમ્પ્સ મસ્ત તૈયારી કરીને આવ્યા હતા, પણ અમુક પાર્ટિસિપન્ટ્સની વાર્તાની રજૂઆત જોઈને સૌ આભા થઈ ગયા હતા, લિટરલી!
ફોર એક્ઝામ્પલ, કોઈ ક્યુટી ચેમ્પ પોતાની સ્ટોરી અનુસાર કાર્ડબોર્ડ કટઆઉટ્સ બનાવીને લાવ્યા હતા, તો કોઈ ખુદ કેરેક્ટર બની ગયા હતા. એવું લાગતું હતું કે આ માત્ર સ્ટોરીટેલિંગ વત્તા ફેન્સી ડ્રેન્સ કે ડ્રામા કોમ્પિટીશનનું કોમ્બિનેશન ન હોય!
કોઈએ વળી પોતાની સાથે કલરફુલ પ્રિન્ટઆઉટ્સ સાથે રાખીને સુંદર પ્રેઝન્ટેશન આપ્યું, તો કોઈએ અવનવા પ્રોપ્સ (એટલે કે પ્રોપર્ટી)નો આકર્ષક રીતે ઉપયોગ કર્યો.
જિંગલ જિંગલના પહેલા જ પાના પર છપાતા ઊઇ-કોડનો પણ બચ્ચાઓએ સ્માર્ટ ઉપયોગ કર્યો. જેમ કે, ઘણા વાલીઓએ અમને કહ્યું કે એમના સંતાને ઊઇ-કોડનો ઉપયોગ કરીને પોતાની ફેવરિટ સ્ટોરી ઓડિયો ફોર્મેટમાં વારંવાર સાંભળી અને તે રીતે પોતાનું નરેશન તૈયાર કરવામાં મદદ મેળવી.
બન્ને ભાષા પ્યારી
સ્પર્ધામાં ભાષાનું કોઈ બંધન નહોતું.
એવુંય બન્યું કે ગુજરાતી મીડિયમમાં ભણતા કોઈ સ્પર્ધકે અંગ્રેજીમાં વાર્તા રજૂ કરી, તો અંગ્રેજી મીડિયમમાં ભણતા સ્પર્ધકે માતૃભાષા ગુજરાતીમાં કહાણી પેશ કરી.
આ સૌનું પરિણામ? જલસો જ જલસો!
ખરી પરીક્ષા પરીક્ષકોની!
ખરી કસોટી તો નિર્ણાયકો પીટર વોલ્ટર, કે જે વરિષ્ઠ અભિનેતા છે, અને દર્શક પટેલ, કે જે સિનિયર લેખક-પત્રકાર છે, તેમની થઈ. આટલા સરસ સરસ પાર્ટિસિપન્ટ્સમાંથી ફર્સ્ટ-સેકન્ડ-થર્ડ નંબર આપવો કેવી રીતે?
અહીં તો બધાએ વિનિંર્સ પર્ફોર્મન્સીસ આપ્યાં હતાં. તેમ છતાંય નિર્ણાયકોએ અત્યંત ચીવટપૂર્વક ટોપ-થ્રી વિનર્સને પસંદ કર્યા. ત્રણેય વિજેતાઓને ખૂબસૂરત ઇનામો મળ્યાં. સર્ટિફિકેટ તો તમામ સ્પર્ધકને મળ્યા.

and KalaSmriti Cultural Center?

T he date was 21st September 2025. The day? Sunday. The time? Morning. And the place? The vibrant Smriti Shah Cultural Center at KlaSmriti, located inside the GSTV campus on SG Highway, Ahmedabad.
And oh boy, the atmosphere was buzzing that day! Why? Because dozens of excited, giggly, jingling little champs from all across Ahmedabad marched in with their parents, family members, or school representatives. Their mission?
To take part in the Storytelling Competition!
Yes! Your favorite Jingle Jingle Zagmag (the kids' supplement published every Saturday with *Gujarat Samachar*) teamed up with KlaSmriti to host this contest especially for school children of Ahmedabad.
A total of 31 smart students from 15 different schools participated with full-on enthusiasm. Each one had to pick their favorite short story printed earlier in Jingle Jingle Zagmag and narrate it with expressions, feelings, and style. And wow - what a show it turned out to be!
Creativity Galore
Every single champ came super prepared. But some of their performances honestly left the audience spellbound. Like… seriously!
One kid brought along handmade cardboard cutouts to match the story.
Another dressed up as the character itself - as if straight out of the tale!
Some used colorful printouts and gave dazzling presentations.
Others got creative with fun props that made the storytelling sparkle even more.
It felt less like just a "storytelling contest" and more like a mix of storytelling + fancy dress + drama competition.
And wait for this - some kids even used the QR codes printed on the first page of Jingle Jingle Zagmag. Parents told us how their kids listened to the audio stories again and again using those QR codes, and practiced their narration that way. Smart idea, right?
No Language Barriers
One of the coolest parts? There were no language rules!
A Gujarati-medium student confidently narrated in English.
And an English-medium student proudly told a story in Gujarati.
That's the true spirit of storytelling - words don't matter, feelings do.
And the result of all this? Pure joy. Full-on celebration. Total dhamaka!
The Judges' Challenge
Now, the real test was for the judges:

With so many brilliant performances, picking just the top three was no joke. Every participant gave a winner-level performance. But after a lot of thoughtful discussion, the judges finally selected the top three winners. The winners received beautiful prizes, while every single participant proudly took home a certificate.
