- "Why should I do your homework? Everyone should do their own work and be independent!"

Kashvi P. Kachhia

D ipika was an intelligent girl who loved reading books and learning new things. Every day, while she studied, her mother would call her to help with household chores. Dipika always obeyed, but she noticed something unfair-her brother Pankaj was never asked to help. Instead, he spent his time playing games while she worked and studied.

One day, feeling upset, Dipika asked her mother why only she had to do the chores. Before her mother could answer, Pankaj said, "Because you're a girl, and girls are supposed to do the housework." Their mother explained that Dipika needed to learn cooking and chores for her future married life. Pankaj even teased her about this.

Determined to change his outdated thinking, Dipika made a plan with Pankaj's friend. The next day, the friend asked Pankaj to do his homework for him. Angrily, Pankaj replied, "Why should I do your homework? Everyone should do their own work and be independent!"

Quickly, Dipika said, "Exactly! If everyone must do their own work, then why should only girls do all the household chores? If someone eats, they should know how to cook. If someone wears clothes, they should know how to wash them. Independence is for everyone."

Listening to this, Pankaj realized his mistake. He decided to learn cooking and help with chores alongside his sister.

Moral

Change wrong thinking as soon as you recognize it. Both men and women should be independent-not only in earning money but also in managing household responsibilities.
