What If Mother Earth Could Talk?

It was 6 a.m. I was still in a deep sleep when someone knocked on our window and said,

“Please get up, please get up!”

I opened my eyes and looked around. My parents were still sleeping peacefully. Thinking it was just my imagination, I went back to bed. After five minutes, I heard the same knock again.

This time, when I looked outside the window, I was shocked. It was Mother Earth, talking to me! Her voice was calm, gentle, and sweet. I began to wonder—what would happen if Mother Earth could really talk?

If Mother Earth could talk, she could give us daily weather updates, like when it would rain or snow. We would not need alarm clocks anymore because she could wake us up every morning. On April 22nd, she could sing the “Happy Birthday” song with us. She would happily share stories and pictures of her friends like Jupiter, Mercury, and the Moon.

I became very curious and asked her, “Which is your favorite place on Earth?”

She smiled and said, “I like India the most.”

I felt very happy after hearing her answer.

But then her face turned serious. She complained about growing pollution, unseasonal weather, and waste spread everywhere. She sounded sad and tired. I wanted to ask her many more questions and promise her that I would help.

Suddenly, my alarm clock rang loudly.

I woke up and realized it was just a dream.

I shared my dream with my parents and my schoolteacher. It made me realize that even though Mother Earth cannot speak, she is still giving us signs about the wrong things happening in the world.

We should understand her signals and promise to protect our beautiful Earth.
