Gajraj the elephant lived in the royal stables. The king adored him and ensured he had the best care. Yet, Gajraj felt lonely. He had no friends. The kind mahout, his caretaker, bathed and fed him, but they didn’t play together.

One evening, a tired and hungry dog wandered into the stable. Gajraj shared his food with him. The dog wagged his tail in thanks, then fell asleep.

In the morning, the mahout noticed the dog but didn’t chase him away. Gajraj seemed happy to have company. The dog stayed. He followed Gajraj to the bathing pond and even got playful splashes from the elephant’s trunk. The two became best friends.

One day, a farmer passed by and shouted, "Bunty!" The dog ran to him. The farmer hugged him. "I’ve been searching for you for days!"

The mahout allowed the farmer to take the dog home. But both dog and elephant were heartbroken. Gajraj refused to eat. The dog, too, didn’t touch his food.

Seeing his dog so sad, the farmer understood. "If you miss your friend that much, go to him." He untied the leash. The dog ran to the stable.

Gajraj picked him up with his trunk and joyfully swung him around. The mahout laughed and brought food. "You both eat first!"

The farmer, who followed Bunty, smiled. "It’s not just Gajraj who found a friend," said the mahout, hugging the farmer. "I have, too."
