The World's Biggest Sundial Jaipur's Samrat Yantra

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh built the Jantar Mantar in the 18th century. The Jantar Mantar has about 14 astronomy instruments. These instruments, built with different wall arrangements on the ground, are used to track the movements of the sun, moon, and stars. Among them, the Samrat Yantra sundial is world-famous.
A sundial is a clever design. The shadow cast by a pole fixed on the ground is used to tell time. Jaipur's Samrat Yantra is 27 meters tall, and its shadow moves one millimeter every second. You can even see this shadow movement with your bare eyes. The Samrat Yantra in Jaipur is tilted by 27 degrees, matching the city's longitude. This instrument, set up in the north-south direction, tells time very accurately. The Jantar Mantar is a big attraction for tourists visiting Jaipur.
