THE TRAGEDY OF SOULS .

- Mohammed Rangwala
I n an ancient stone tower overlooking the city lived two friends: Francisco and Josh.
One day, Francisco became obsessed with a grand magical discovery. "This potion will unlock the mysteries of the soul-a doorway to immortality," he whispered to himself. In the heat of his experiment, Francisco dropped a final crystal shard into a bubbling flask. The liquid glowed with colors never seen before, but suddenly, the potion burst. Glass shattered across the room in a blinding flash.
Francisco tried to scream, but no sound came out. When he looked into a mirror, he recoiled in horror. The reflection staring back was not his own-it was the face of his friend, Josh. Their souls had been transmigrated.
Meanwhile, Josh woke up on a bed with panic rising in his chest. "Where am I? This is not my house," he whispered as he stumbled outside. At the end of the street, a man called out to him, "Francisco?"
Josh froze. "But... I am Josh," he stammered. The man approached and grabbed his shoulders. It was Harry, their other best friend. Harry noticed something was deeply wrong; Francisco's body was speaking with Josh's trembling voice.
"What are you saying?" Harry asked, bewildered. They hurried to Harry's wooden house, where Josh-trapped in Francisco's body-explained the magical accident. Harry realized this was no mere madness and decided to seek help from the Headmaster of the city's great academy.
The next day, they met the Master. He looked at them solemnly and said, "I know why you have come. A forbidden magic has twisted the threads of your souls. Such spells were banned centuries ago because once souls are shifted, they are never quite the same." Seeing their despair, he added, "But there is one path left. A restoration ritual exists to return your souls to their rightful vessels."
The Master handed Harry a thick book bound in dragon hide. Its pages glowed with shifting, ethereal words. "This book contains power beyond imagination, but it is written in a language not of this world. It is useless without a translation." He guided them to seek a Saint who lived atop a distant mountain.
The mountain loomed high above the city. As Harry and Josh climbed the treacherous path, unseen forces tried to drive them back. After hours of exhaustion, they reached the summit and found the Saint deep in meditation. Josh pleaded for help. The Saint placed his hand upon the dragon-hide book, and a golden light spread across the pages, reshaping the ancient symbols into words Josh could finally read.
They stayed on the mountain for days, training under the Saint's guidance. After drinking a powerful elixir from a vial, they descended to a hidden chamber beneath the school to face the final challenge: the four Guardians.
A fierce battle broke out. Josh and Harry fought bravely against the four mystical sentinels. Harry was injured in the struggle, but together, they finally defeated the Guardians and secured the final parchment needed for the ritual.
Returning to the Master, they watched as he unrolled the hard-won parchment and chanted the restoration spell. In a flash of light, Josh felt his spirit surge. When he opened his eyes, he was back in his own body. Beside him, Francisco's soul had also returned to its rightful place.
Moral
1. Curiosity must be tempered with caution: One should not perform magic that is forbidden and dangerous.
2. The power of friendship: Even in tragedy, unity can overcome the impossible.
