- "If we're so specially made for desert life, why are we here in the zoo living such an ordinary life? We can't use any of our amazing abilities here. I didn't even know about them until now, and they only seem important if we can actually use them in the desert."

Golu Shah

H ave you ever felt that you're not special, that you don't have any amazing skill, or that you're just so ordinary? Then stop right there! Because I have a story for you-a story that will make you believe you're wonderful and unique in your own ways. Sometimes, it's all about finding the right place.

Today's story is about a baby camel named Golu and her Momma camel. They lived in a very large zoo in one of the biggest cities of Gujarat. Every day, the zoo was bustling with visitors. It was a magical place for everyone, especially kids, because there were so many interesting and beautiful animals and birds from all over India and the world. People traveled from all corners of the country to visit.

In one of the cages lived Golu and her Momma camel. Golu was born right there in the zoo, so she and her mother were used to crowds passing by, smiling, and feeding them grass and leaves. Golu absolutely loved these visits. She was a cheerful and friendly camel, and even the visitors adored her. But she was very curious too, always asking her Momma camel dozens of questions at night after the zoo had closed.

One night, as Golu sat quietly in the corner, lost in thought, Momma camel asked what was bothering her. Golu shared what she had overheard earlier that day: a kid had stopped by the cage and asked his mother, "What can this animal do? They look so weird-what's their specialty, Mom?"

Momma camel nodded and asked, "So, what did the boy's mom tell him?"

Golu replied, "She said we're called camels and have some very interesting traits. We have humps on our backs to store food, so we can survive long hours in the desert. Our wide, padded feet help us walk on sand without sinking. We can close our nostrils and use one of our three eyelids to protect against sandstorms. Plus, we can go a long time without water because we store water in our bloodstream. Camels are used as working animals in deserts and are tough enough to survive harsh conditions."

Momma camel listened, astonished. "Yes, Golu, all those things are true-we really do have those special abilities."

But Golu looked worried. Momma camel asked, "Why do you look so anxious? Aren't you happy knowing how special you are?"

Golu replied softly, "If we're so specially made for desert life, why are we here in the zoo living such an ordinary life? We can't use any of our amazing abilities here. I didn't even know about them until now, and they only seem important if we can actually use them in the desert."

Momma camel was touched by Golu's questions and was silent for a moment. Then, she hugged Golu tightly and said, "You're absolutely right, Golu. Here in the zoo, our true abilities aren't put to use. But I promise, if we ever get to live in the desert-our rightful place-I'll teach you how to use every wonderful ability we have. That's when you'll discover your real potential and feel your worth."

Golu smiled, hugged her Momma camel back, and drifted off to sleep, feeling happy and hopeful.
