The Lost Brother : A Sister's Poem for Her Brother

- Deeva Bhimani
When I walk these silent roads alone,
Each step brings a shower of memories of you.
Like an old song that stirs my soul,
These lanes feel unfamiliar without you.
Where once we built dreams side by side,
Every corner still holds a turn-
A trace of our silly games, our innocent laughter-
Now silent, as if time swallowed it whole,
Leaving only echoes in my heart.
I wonder-do you think of me too?
Or are you lost in life's passing mist?
Does that old garden where we promised to stay close
Still light a spark in your eyes?
Do the stories we once shared
Now drift away like leaves from autumn trees?
Do you ever pause and remember
How we forgot the world when we were together?
Do I still live somewhere in your heart?
Do you still feel that bond-unspoken, unbroken-
Now floating on the sea of memory?
Sometimes, in the stillness of night,
When moonlight paints the world in silver,
I try to relive those moments again-
When we, without worry or fear,
Soared on the wings of childhood dreams.
Is that love between us still alive?
Do you think of those days-
When we looked into each other's eyes
And the world stood still for us?
Do those moments still echo in your heart?
In this quiet, I hear your name softly call.
Every shadow reminds me of your smile.
This world feels colorless without you-
Like a canvas without paint.
Your laughter once lit up the darkest days.
Will you ever return to this quiet part of my life,
Where everything still reminds me of you?
Do you lose yourself in those memories too?
Do you still feel we were meant to walk this life
As siblings, side by side, always?
That no matter where life takes us,
Our bond could never fade?
You are like a dream that visits me sometimes
But fades with the first light of dawn.
Still, I hold onto hope-
That one day, these paths will once again echo with our footsteps.
That we'll laugh again over nothing at all,
As if no time had passed.
When I open the treasure chest of memories,
I try to live those moments again-
Like flipping through pages of an old book,
Where every word carries your name.
Do you ever return to those pages?
Or have they become blurry pictures
Only I still see?
Will our story remain alive
Only in the quiet of my heart?
Perhaps when the moon rises once more,
Or the first sunlight brushes my face,
I'll feel you again-right here,
Like an old melody that never fades.
And even if your memory begins to blur,
I'll know it will always stay with me-
Like a smile that never dies.
For love between siblings never truly disappears-
It simply changes form,
Becoming a sweet memory,
Forever stitched into the heart.
And as long as I find myself lost in those moments,
The scent of our shared past will live within me.
And even in silence, I'll whisper your name-
Like an old story that never ends.
