Some metals release constant energy because of unstable centers in their atoms. This energy is called radiation, and these materials are called radioactive.

Henri Becquerel discovered radioactivity. Later, other famous scientists like Ernest Rutherford and Marie Curie did more research on it. Becquerel was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903 for his discovery.

Early Life: Henri was born on December 15, 1852, in Paris. His father and grandfather were also scientists.

Career: He started his career as an engineer building roads and bridges. In 1892, he took an important position at the National Museum of Natural History.

Discovery: In 1896, while experimenting with uranium and other metals, he discovered radioactivity. He found that uranium constantly sends out radiation.

Honors: Along with the Nobel Prize (shared with Pierre and Marie Curie), he received many awards like the Rumford Medal and the Helmholtz Medal.

Legacy: He passed away on August 25, 1908. It is said that the experiments with radioactivity had harmful effects on his body, leading to his early death.
