The Day the Moon Lost Its Smile

- "Thank you, Mira," the Moon said. "You showed everyone that kindness creates light, and light brings smiles."

E very night, the Moon smiled down at the world. It smiled at quiet rooftops, sleepy rivers, and children whispering secrets. The Moon believed that its smile helped people remember to be happy.
But one night, the Moon felt very sad. It saw people rushing without saying hello and children arguing over little things. Grown-ups forgot to look at the stars, and laughter was hard to find. Slowly, the Moon's smile simply faded away.
In a town called Gulmohar Nagar, a girl named Mira noticed the change. The Moon was her best friend, but tonight it looked pale and lonely.
"Moon?" Mira whispered from her window. "What happened?"
"I have lost my smile, little one," a soft voice replied. "The world feels heavy, and my light is weak. I think my smile fell to Earth because kindness has disappeared."
Mira wanted to help. She put on her red sweater and climbed down the mango tree outside her house.
She went to the park first. An old banyan tree told her, "Children don't play together anymore. They only compete and complain." Mira felt sad because she knew it was true.
Next, she walked to the market. She saw a woman struggling with heavy bags and helped her carry them. The woman gave Mira a kind look and said, "Thank you." For a second, a silver spark appeared in the air, but it quickly vanished.
"It is not enough yet," Mira thought.
Then, she found a boy crying over a popped balloon. Mira sat with him, shared her chocolate, and sang a silly song. The boy laughed out loud. Suddenly, a warm, glowing light rose from their laughter. Mira caught it in her hands.
As she walked home, Mira kept helping others. She helped an old man cross the street and found shade for a stray puppy. Each time she was kind, the glow in her hands grew bigger and brighter.
When she reached her house, the light was as bright as a small star. She held it up toward the sky.
"Moon!" she called. "Your smile was never lost. It was just hidden inside kind acts."
The light floated up and settled on the Moon's face. The Moon began to shine more brightly than ever before.
"Thank you, Mira," the Moon said. "You showed everyone that kindness creates light, and light brings smiles."
From that day on, whenever someone in Gulmohar Nagar helped a friend or smiled at a stranger, the Moon shone a little bit brighter.
Moral of the story: Being kind and helpful makes the whole world a brighter place.
