T housands of years ago, there was a king who was very cruel and always troubled his people. No one dared to go against him. Anyone who even thought badly about him was thrown into a dungeon or sentenced to death. Even his ministers lived in fear.
One day, while the king was riding through the city on his elephant, a mouse suddenly crossed the road. The elephant panicked and ran wildly. This made the king very angry. He ordered his soldiers to catch the mouse and lock it up.
When the mouse's owner heard this, he went to the king and pleaded for the mouse's release. But the king refused to listen, and the man went back disappointed. Then, he found out that the king had a horse he loved very much. So, the man made a plan to take it.
Late at night, while the soldiers were asleep, he quietly sneaked into the royal stable and took the horse.
The next morning, when the king couldn't find his horse, he was furious. He shouted, "If my horse is not found, I will punish all of you!" The soldiers began searching everywhere.
By noon, the same man - the mouse's owner - came to the king. The king yelled, "Do you know whose horse you've stolen? I can have you killed!"
The man calmly said, "If you kill me, how will you ever find your horse?"
The king, now helpless, said, "That horse is very precious to me." The man replied, "Just like your horse is precious to you, my mouse is precious to me. The way you love your horse, I love my mouse. Never think someone else's things are less important than your own. Return my mouse, and I will return your horse."
The king realized his mistake. He released the mouse, and the man returned the horse. From that day, the king was no longer cruel.
Moral
We should never let power or status make us arrogant, because even the most powerful king can be humbled by an ordinary man.
