Many researchers have invented various vaccines, and Maurice Hilleman is a pioneer in this. He invented 40 other vaccines in addition to eight deadly diseases like smallpox, hepatitis B, and meningitis. Maurice Hilleman was born in Miles City, Montana, USA, on August 30, 1919. His mother died soon after Hillman was born, so he was raised by his uncle. His uncle worked as a poultry farmer. Hillman got the opportunity to study chickens from a young age. While reading in the church library, Maurice Hilleman read about Darwin's theory of evolution and was impressed. Being a gifted student, he received many scholarships. After graduating with good marks from the University of Montana, he joined the University of Chicago and became a doctor in microbiology. After becoming a doctor, he served as a doctor in the army from 1948 to 1958. During World War II, he discovered an influenza vaccine that saved the lives of many soldiers. This discovery made him famous. He was awarded the highest medal of the army. In 1957, Hillman joined a pharmaceutical company as a researcher. He discovered vaccines for eight deadly and 40 other diseases and rendered invaluable service to mankind. Hillman was a hard worker and always worked on a military basis. After retirement, he served as a consultant to the World Health Organization. He died on April 11, 2005.
