The railway's steam engine is considered a revolutionary invention. After it was invented, scientists made many improvements, creating railway engines that ran on petrol and diesel. Later, the electric engine, which runs on electricity, was invented. Electric engines run by getting power from overhead wires. A scientist named Granville Woods made a significant contribution to modernizing railway trains.

Granville T. Woods was born on April 23, 1856, in Columbus, Ohio, USA. Born into a poor family, Granville worked at a blacksmith's shop during the day and attended night school. After completing his studies, he got a job as a fireman for a railway in Nebraska. He continued his college education while working and became an engineer.

In 1878, Granville was appointed chief engineer on a British ship. He studied railway trains in depth and found ways to use electricity for them. He was mainly responsible for connecting railway stations by telegraph using the train tracks. He developed the technology to run trains by getting electricity from wires running near the railway line and invented the overhead wire technology.

Granville is called the "second Edison" of the science world. He passed away on January 30, 1910.
