India's Tallest Waterfall: Nohkalikai Falls

Located near Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, the Nohkalikai Falls drops from a height of 340 meters. This tallest waterfall in the country is 23 meters wide. This fall is situated at an altitude of 1,239 meters above sea level. Cherrapunji is also known for receiving the highest rainfall.

A legend about a woman named Likai is associated with the Nohkalikai Falls. The waterfall was named Nohkalikai after her. The water collected at the spot where the waterfall lands is green in color. Situated amidst high cliffs and dense forests, this waterfall is difficult to reach.

This waterfall is at a distance of 53 kilometers from Shillong. The forests of Cherrapunji are lush due to heavy rains. There are several waterfalls around Cherrapunji. Notable places to visit include Eco Park on the Khasi Hills, Dainthlen Falls, and Cremni Caves. The Ramakrishna Mission is also located at this place. Bridges made of living tree roots can also be seen here.
