Fibers and Chemical Processes .

We all know about natural fibers like silk, cotton, and jute. However, when these are treated with chemicals, they turn into synthetic (man-made) fibers like Nylon, Acrylic, and Terylene.

Nylon: Looks like silk but is very strong and waterproof. It is used to make carpets, socks, ropes, fishing nets, and parachutes.

Acrylic: Feels like wool. It is commonly used to make sweaters, shawls, and blankets.

Terylene: This fiber does not absorb much water, so clothes made from it dry very quickly. It is used for sarees, shirts, curtains, sails for ships, and water pipes.
