China’s Natural Wonder Shilin Stone Forest

While many forests of trees can be found on Earth, there is an amazing forest of stones in China. As China is a vast country, it has many areas with diverse geographical formations. The stone forest located in the Yunnan province, covering 350 square kilometers, is a natural wonder. In this area, known as the Shilin Stone Forest, sharp stones of various sizes have sprouted like thickets. These stones, standing at right angles to the ground, look like sculptures. These rocks are said to be 270 million years old. Standing close together on the ground, these similarly shaped pillars create a scene like a forest; therefore, it is called a Stone Forest. Many tourists come to see this forest.
