Ponting to re-join test squad

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 19 (AGENCIES)

Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been cleared to re-join the Test squad in India.

Today's x-rays confirmed that his thumb is healing well and he is hopeful to be fit for the fourth Test in Mumbai, which starts on November 3.

Details of Ponting's departure will be released in due course.

Cricket Australia medical adviser Dr Trefor James said examination by Sydney specialist, Mr Ian Hargreaves, had confirmed that Ponting's broken thumb has shown significant improvement over the last few days.
