Indians put fine display at chess Olympiad

MALLORCA, SPAIN, OCTOBER 19 (PTI)

Grandmasters P Harikrishna and Abhijit Kunte came up with spirited show and guided India to a 2.5-1.5 victory over United States at 36th Chess Olympiad here at Gran Casino.

Viswanathan Anand settled for an easy draw with Alexander Onischuk in the fourth round of the Olympiad.

The big victory for Indian team came on the second board when young gun P Harikrishna crashed through the defences of higher rated Alexander Shabalov.

On the third board Abhijit Kunte grounded the experience of Alexander Goldin while on the fourth board Sandipan Chanda went down fighting against Igor Novikov.
