JKLF Chairman Yaseen Malik, Shabir Shah detained in Srinagar Srinagar, Feb. 27: JKLF chairman Yaseen Mailk and Democratic Freedom party president Shabir Shah were among a score of separatists detained in Srinagar and Sumbal en rotue Bandipora, where a youth was killed in police firing on a mob of protestors at a local stadium there on Thursday. While Malik and ten of his colleagues were detained by police outside the local office of United Nations Military Observers Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) at Sonawar, near here, Shah and his eight supporters were taken into custody at Sumbal, official sources said. Raising anti-government slogans, the JKLF activists went to present a memorandum to the UNMOGIP when the police deployed there took them into custody, the sources said. They said the activists including the vice-chairman of the front Javid Ahmad Mir, Bashir Ahmad Bhat and official spokesman Sheikh Abdul Rashid were detained and lodged at Rammunshi bagh police station for violating prohibitory orders in force in the city. Shah, his general secretary Maulana Abdullah Tari and other supporters were on their way to Bandipora when police intercepted them and detained them in police station Sumbal, the sources said.
