Godhra peaceful, police arrests 42

Ahmedabad, Feb. 19: Godhra remained peaceful on Thursday amid heavy police bandobast. Violence broke out in the communally-sensitive town after a police party went to arrest Godhra train carnage accused in a Muslim locality on Wednesday.

Taking to The Indian Post, Godhra SP Brajesh Kumar Jha, who incidentally took charge on Thursday, said police has arrested 42 persons in connection with Wednesday violence. He further said the police will be maintaining high vigil for couple of days more before the situation is restored to normal. (IPNS)
