Orissa trounce J&K 11-0 in National Women’s Fed Cup football

Jharsuguda (Orissa), Dec. 24: Orissa trounced Jammu and Kashmir 11-0 in the 25th National Women’s Federation Cup football championship at the TRL Stadium at Belpahar near here on Wednesday.

In two other matches played during the day, Bihar beat Uttar Pradesh 5-1 at the OSAP Ground here while Maharashtra drew Jharkhand 1-1 at Belpahar.

Outplaying the visitors from the very beginning, the hosts led 5-0 at half time adding six more goals after the interval.

Pinki Magar of Orissa scored four goals followed by Thunki Munda (three), Geetanjali Khuntia (two) and Ashrita Kisan and Prathama Priyadarshani (one each).

Bihar, helped by two early goals by captain Putul Kumari, led 2-0 at the interval.

Putul added one more goal in the second half taking her tally to three while Punam Singh and Neck Parvin scored once each.

For Uttar Pradesh, Kumari Rashmita scored the only consolation goal 19 minutes after the interval.

In the Maharashtra-Jharkhand tie, both the teams were locked goalless at half-time.

However, Swati Butra of Jharkhand broke the deadlock in the very second minute after interval, which was neutralised by Minali Biswas of Maharashtra thirty minutes later. (PTI)
