BHEL bags Rs 61 crores order from Indian Navy

New Delhi, Dec. 24: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has won a Rs 61 crores order from the Indian Navy for supplying electrical power package to its "Project Seabird" at Karwar in Karnataka.

The order was won after facing intense competition from established Indian and multinational players, a BHEL release said here.

The scope of work order includes design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of DG-based captive power plant (4x2.5 MW) and electrical power supply packages.

The contract will be executed by BHEL’s Bangalore-based Industrial System Group.

The plant and the system would be fully functional within a schedule of 68 weeks while the first package is slated to go on stream within 23 weeks.

In the past, BHEL has successfully executed order for DG based power plants for IFFCO, NPCIL, IOC, NFL, GAIL, Chambal Fertilisers and Electricity Department at Port Blair. (PTI)
